Dragonfly

NASA’s 2028 Dragonfly mission aims to send a flyable drone to Saturn’s largest moon Titan to learn more about it’s unique properties and it’s potential insights on the building blocks of life itself. While branding this endeavor, it was my goal to evoke the curious spirit of science fiction, and to ultimately generate interest amongst the public—while also giving the mission a strong visual identity to allow the internal project team to easily promote it.

Curiosity, innovation, and fun, were the key traits used to tap into this identity. It was paramount for this to look more energizing and fresh as NASA’s future marketing goals look to capture the attention of a new generation.

Colors fit for adventure

Colors were inspired by the extreme alien world of Titan. Dominated by the reds, oranges, and yellows of it’s methane choked atmosphere. The objective of the color palette was to invoke a sense of adventure and a bit of mystery. Heavily inspired by retro-scifi themes to reinforce that Dragonfly’s mission is closing the gap between what was only previously fantasy—and now becoming reality.
